LinkedIn is the most expensive of the major ad platforms per click. Published 2026 UK benchmarks put the typical cost per click at around £4.40–£12, with cost per thousand impressions (CPM) of roughly £22–£35 and cost per lead commonly £50–£150. LinkedIn’s minimum daily budget is the equivalent of $10 a day, but useful tests usually need far more. The premium buys something no other platform offers: targeting by job title, seniority, company and industry, which is why it can still be the cheapest way to reach the right buyer.
This guide breaks down what LinkedIn ads cost, how pricing works, how much budget you need, and how to tell whether it’s worth it for your business.
The three costs of LinkedIn ads
- Ad spend: what you pay LinkedIn, set as a daily or lifetime budget for each campaign.
- Creative and offer: the ads, and the reason to respond: a guide, a demo, an event, a benchmark report. On LinkedIn, the offer often matters more than the ad.
- Management: building audiences, testing, managing bids and connecting leads to your CRM, whether that’s you, an employee or an agency.
LinkedIn ads costs: UK benchmarks for 2026
LinkedIn doesn’t publish UK averages, so these figures come from a third-party UK benchmark report (Evergreen Growth, 2026). Treat them as rough guides rather than targets:
| Metric | Typical UK range (2026) | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| CPC (cost per click) | Around £4.40–£12 | What a click costs for most B2B audiences; narrow, competitive targeting pushes it up |
| CPM | Roughly £22–£35 | What it costs to reach 1,000 people |
| Cost per lead | Commonly £50–£150; around £75 for Lead Gen Forms against about £165 for website forms | Depends heavily on the offer and audience |
Costs also vary by sector. Audiences that global finance, legal, software and cybersecurity firms all want, CFOs, general counsel, IT directors, cost the most. Narrow, niche audiences cost more per person than broad ones.
How LinkedIn ads pricing works
- Cost per click (CPC): you pay when someone clicks. Common for traffic, lead and website-conversion campaigns.
- Cost per thousand impressions (CPM): you pay for views. Common for awareness and video. Our CPM calculator converts between CPM, budget and impressions.
- Cost per send: for Message and Conversation Ads delivered to LinkedIn inboxes.
You choose how LinkedIn bids: maximum delivery lets it spend your budget to get as many results as it can; cost cap asks it to keep your average cost near a target; and manual bidding sets your own maximum. New accounts usually start with maximum delivery, then add a cost cap once they know their numbers.
How much budget do you need?
LinkedIn’s minimum is the equivalent of $10 a day per campaign, but at £4.40–£12 a click that buys very little. Work it out from the leads you need instead:
- Pick a target: say 20 leads a month.
- Estimate cost per lead: say £80.
- Multiply: 20 × £80 = £1,600 a month.
Then follow the leads through: if one in five becomes a sales opportunity and one in four of those is won, that’s one new client a month for £1,600 of advertising. If an average client is worth £12,000 in their first year, that’s well worth it; if they’re worth £1,000, it isn’t. Our LTV:CAC calculator shows the maths for your own numbers.
If your budget is under roughly £1,500–£2,000 a month, LinkedIn on its own often can’t generate enough results to learn from. Many B2B companies start with high-intent Google search, see how much Google Ads cost, and add LinkedIn to reach buyers who aren’t searching yet.
Is LinkedIn worth the premium?
LinkedIn usually earns its cost when:
- Your deals are valuable: a client worth thousands of pounds can justify a £100+ lead.
- You sell to specific roles or companies: job title, seniority, company size and named-company lists are LinkedIn’s unique strength, and the basis of account-based marketing.
- Buyers aren’t searching yet: LinkedIn reaches people before they look for a solution on Google.
It’s usually harder to justify for low-value consumer products, or when the people you sell to don’t use LinkedIn much. For many audiences, Meta ads reach the same people far more cheaply: just with less precise targeting.
How to keep LinkedIn ad costs down
- Measure leads beyond the form. Lead Gen Forms are convenient and cheap, but quality varies. Send leads to your CRM and track which become opportunities and deals, then feed that back to LinkedIn with its Conversions API or an offline conversion import. Our offline conversion tracking guide shows the same approach for Google Ads.
- Use an offer worth giving details for. A useful benchmark report, template or event usually beats “Book a demo” for cold audiences.
- Retarget first. Website visitors and people who watched your videos are cheaper to convert than cold audiences.
- Check expansion settings. Audience expansion and the LinkedIn Audience Network can add reach but dilute targeting: turn them off when precision matters, and test them deliberately when it doesn’t.
- Exclude who you don’t want: existing customers, competitors, your own staff and job seekers.
- Try Thought Leader Ads. Promoting posts from your founder or team often earns more engagement than company-page ads.
- Refresh creative regularly. Small B2B audiences see the same ads often, so creative fatigue sets in quickly.
What does LinkedIn ads management cost?
UK agencies commonly charge 10–20% of ad spend or a fixed monthly retainer, and LinkedIn often sits inside a wider B2B or demand-generation retainer. FAQs
What is the minimum budget for LinkedIn ads?
LinkedIn’s minimum daily budget is the equivalent of $10 a day per campaign. In practice, most UK B2B advertisers need at least £1,500–£2,000 a month to get enough clicks and leads to learn what works.
Why are LinkedIn ads so expensive?
Because the audiences are valuable and contested. LinkedIn lets advertisers target by job title, seniority and company, so many businesses compete to reach the same decision-makers, and they bid accordingly.
Are LinkedIn Lead Gen Forms worth it?
They usually produce more leads at a lower cost per lead than sending people to your website, because the form is pre-filled. Quality can be lower, so judge them on how many leads become opportunities and customers, not on cost per lead alone.
Is LinkedIn or Google Ads better for B2B?
They do different jobs. Google Ads captures people already searching for a solution, often at a lower cost per lead. LinkedIn reaches the right roles and companies before they search. Many B2B companies start with Google search and add LinkedIn as budgets grow.
Do LinkedIn ads work for solicitors and professional services?
They can for commercial work, such as employment, corporate and commercial property law, where you’re selling to business decision-makers. For consumer legal services such as family law or wills, Google search usually works better. See our work with solicitors.
In short
LinkedIn ads typically cost £4.40–£12 a click in the UK, with leads commonly £50–£150: the price of targeting by job title, seniority and company. Work your budget back from the leads and clients you need, follow leads through to deals in your CRM, and judge LinkedIn on cost per client won, not cost per click.
